Women in Virology

The Women in Virology session provides a dedicated forum to highlight and celebrate the contributions of women across the fields of virology, infectious diseases, and global health. This session aims to promote gender equity, visibility, and inclusion by fostering open dialogue on the shared challenges and opportunities faced by women in virology.

The session will be coordinated by leading women scientists who are widely recognised for their advocacy for women in STEM and their commitment to advancing diversity and mentorship within the scientific community.

Through an informal networking format, participants will have the opportunity to engage with prominent scientists, early-career researchers, and mentors who have championed diversity and leadership within the virology community. Discussion themes may include balancing career and family, advancing leadership and visibility, mentorship and career development, and building supportive professional networks.

The Women in Virology session underscores APCMV's commitment to cultivating an inclusive scientific community where all voices are valued. By providing a space for connection, reflection, and collaboration, this session aims to empower participants to strengthen professional networks, inspire the next generation of virologists, and contribute to sustained gender balance and excellence in virology research.
